Tooth Extractions
Our priority is always to preserve your natural teeth, but there are situations where extraction is necessary. For instance, a baby tooth with abnormal roots may need removal to allow a permanent tooth to erupt, or a decayed permanent tooth may jeopardize surrounding teeth. Other reasons for extraction include wisdom teeth removal, infection, crowding.
Patients undergoing major procedures, like organ transplants or chemotherapy, may also need to remove compromised teeth.
Process of Tooth Extraction
Before extraction surgery, we will schedule a consultation to evaluate your case and medical history. We will discuss options for extraction, whether simple or surgical and determine the level of sedation or anesthetic arrangements needed for your comfort.
To help patients who are anxious about dental procedures, we may prescribe anti-anxiety medication before the operation. The anti-anxiety medicine, along with the local anesthetic, helps the patient have a more comfortable experience throughout the extraction. Vital signs such as blood pressure and heart rate are monitored to ensure the patient's stability and relaxation during the procedure.
